Mission Statement
U. S. Jones School National Alumni Association
To preserve the Ulysses Simpson Jones School historical legacy of excellence, winning spirit and pride, through active participation of all former students through two way communication; sponsorship of events and reunions; promoting education through scholarships and mentorship training; supporting the welfare of our school's people and communities; providing a presence and voice when needed with the local school board and governmental authorities; and maintaining visibility in the city of Demopolis at large.
Sustaining Governing Pillars of the U S Jones Alumni
Our primary objective is to preserve the USJ historical legacy of excellence through helping others achieve the same via scholarships, internships, counseling, and sponsorships. We will ensure that landmark designations are secured and provide an accurate historical account of the school's origin, contributions and factual milestones in the current U. S. Jones Elementary School. We are working with the Demopolis Board of Education to secure a location for a U. S. Jones School Museum to preserve our legacy.

Dear U. S. Jones Alumni and former students:
Have you ever thought about preserving history, helping a young graduate with money for college, contributing toward the betterment of your hometown, or reuniting with old friends? If so, then please consider joining the newly established U. S. Jones School National Alumni Association. We need as many former U. S. Jones students as possible to join for the Association to be a success. The first 100 to join will become charter members. Click on the tab above to become a charter member today!
The Association, comprised of U. S. Jones alumni and former students from various classes, is a nonprofit organization with tax benefits and eligibility for grant funding.
In the short time it has been in existence, this Association has accomplished a lot. Namely, it has:
-
Established a board of directors
-
Secured a Ulysses Simpson Jones monument marker through the Demopolis City Council, which will be erected soon in front of the former U. S. Jones High School building
-
Initiated discussions regarding the establishment of a U. S. Jones Museum within the former U. S. Jones High School building
-
Developed a process for hosting all future U. S. Jones School Grand Reunions
In the future, we would like to offer scholarships to college-bound high school students. For example, a math scholarship in the name of Dr. James Irvin Bell. We would also like to have U. S. Jones designated as a historical landmark and for this Association to be a conduit for alumni to contact each other.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. We are excited about the prospects of all we can accomplish working together! We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely
The USJ School National Alumni Association

About U.S. Jones High School National Alumni Association
The initiative to get the Ulysses Simpson Jones School National Association started was spearheaded by the Historic Class of 1970. The Ulysses Simpson Jones School National Alumni Association is now a reality. Originally conceived as a planning team for the U. S. Jones 2020 Historic Grand Centennial Reunion that was postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic; the Association has now expanded its membership and mission. The Association now has a Board of Directors that will be responsible for preserving the school's legacy and planning events that will sustain the alumni fellowship and connectivity. We encourage all former U. S. Jones High School Students to join the alumni association and be active participants. We will plan events that go outside the norm and make the association a magnet for all alumni members. Our strategic planning will enable us to do things in collaboration with other groups and officials in Demopolis. On May 20th, 2020, we were approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which means that all monetary contributions toward the organization are tax deductible for you! We look forward to you being an integral part of our development.
